Our History
The Club was founded in the 1940s, the head- quarters was at the Central Hotel Ventnor High Street. With the loss of Ventnor Pier in 1981 the Club's membership dropped slightly but with such a diverse membership, and the hard work of the old committee, the numbers started to climb. We moved to the club house in Wheelers Bay in 1973 and the club reinvented fishing and led the way by hosting competitions no one else had ever done.
What We Do
As a club we have a diverse membership ranging from the very young to the not so young. We hold a number of angling competitions designed to include as many members and guests as possible. These include a number of fixed venue and roving shore fixtures throughout the year. The Sunday league competitions are arranged to give our disabled and junior members the opportunity to fish safely from the sea wall at Wheelers bay alongside able anglers. For the boat anglers the club hold a number of small boat events around the Ventnor area. We also host five open competitions each year which includes the longest running junior event on the Isle of Wight.
Working with the Community
The club has been raising money for charities for a number of years and is very proud to have donated over £30,000 to local good causes.
The Social Side of the Club
We hold a number of social events throughout the year which are open to all. These include Fun Days, Race Nights, Quiz Nights, Darts Nights and a Firework party. We are also able to host events for that special occasion.
Club House
This is our venue for our competition weigh-ins and a whole host of activities throughout the year, including: Quiz Nights - Barbeques - Race Nights and Family Fun Days & Party Nights.
