The Peace Garden is situated in Seven Sisters Road adjoining the 12th Century Old Church in St Lawrence, near Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. A lovely calm space that is visited by many people during the year. A seat placed on a small mound overlooks the sea which gives ample opportunity to delight in the local wildlife - including red squirrels - and watch the various ships sail by.
The garden is maintained by a small group of volunteers - mainly villagers - who get together once a month on the first Tuesday 10-12. Inevitably 2020's pandemic has had an effect on the numbers returning to help and more volunteers would be warmly welcomed. No gardening experience is necessary and some tools are provided although it is always handy to bring your own.
Alan Titchmarsh has a tree dedicated to him, when he came to formally open the garden in 2008. So if you have not yet visited take a stroll along Seven Sisters Road (near the Shute) and enjoy the tranquility this space offers. We look forward to seeing you.
