RAF St. Lawrence was constructed during WWII, and located on the coast about two miles west of Ventnor. There is still come evidence of it today, and a walk along the Coastal Path in a westerly direction from Woody Bay will take you to the site.
Of the three constructions, a bunker is located further inland (and not visible from the Coastal Path) and is now a private residence. This used to be the Standby Set House. The other two constructions are blocks. These can be seen, and appear as large grass mounds. These are permanently sealed and are off limits to the public.
Located near the blocks are two sets of 4 concrete pads, often surrounded by grazing cattle. This land is private farmland and is off limits to the public, but the pads are clearly visible from the Coastal Path. These were the bases for two 120 foot wooden aerial towers - one for receiving and one for transmitting.

DIRECTIONS
The site is only accessible on foot. The closest road is Woolverton Road. Either start at the western end and take the V97 footpath towards Woody Bay. Or start at the eastern end of Woolverton Road and take the V95 footpath (track). Ignore the track to Woody Bay Cottage, and instead walk across the field on V96 (be very wary of the cattle). Before reaching the bay, head off to the right (westward) along the Coastal Path V99. There is no vehicular access to Woody Bay Cottages - this unadopted track is strictly residents only.
