WALK 49
Ventnor to Godshill - 3.3 miles / 3 hours
One way to go from Ventnor to Godshill is over Stenbury Down, but this is the lower and relatively flat route. You can start from anywhere in Ventnor but this walk started from the number 3 bus stop outside the Island Free School in Upper Ventnor. Where the road bends left, Rew Lane runs behind the main road to rejoin it in Wroxall. Some of this walk is on narrow roads with no pavements.
You will see some beautiful views and pass the country pile, Appuldurcombe House, along the way. The route takes you through the Freemantle Gate, once the grand entrance to Appuldurcombe. There are also some lovely farms en route, before ending up in Godshill Village where you can pick up a bus back to Ventnor.
REFRESHMENTS: You can find something to eat and drink in Godshill. There are toilets in the main carpark there.
