Providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our young people are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

For over six years Ventnor Town Council has run a Local Youth Offer, in Upper and Lower Ventnor: providing activities and enrichment for young people aged 9-16.

SOCIAL WELLBEING AND DEVELOPMENT
Our goal is to promote the well-being and inclusion of the young people within our community. With access to the right resources and a space that is theirs, to have pride, and be creative in: young people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfil their potential.

DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS/NICHES EXPLORATION
We have a lot of personalities at our groups! We enjoy new challenges and explore different interests together, building on our skills and confidence. Through cooperation with other non-profit organisations, monetary funding, creative session leaders, and community empowerment, we are able to facilitate a varied program of activities for young people. Successful collaborations have been diverse, including designing and building a sea-worthy raft with electric tools, scrap robot wars, exploring in our natural areas, or a bushcraft activity day, at East Dene.

If you or your organisation are interested in the work we do and would like to volunteer, share ideas or discuss projects, please get in touch.

CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
Explore and create with a range of materials;. Activities have included painting, origami, clay modelling, comic strips, slime, drawing challenges, designing and drawing your own T-Shirt design.

COOKERY
We explore food & cooking, at our weekly Drop-in sessions, in Upper Ventnor occasionally. We have cooked; Christmas Dinners, Pancakes, Fruit Kebabs, Cheese Quesadilla's etc.

At times we also run a Cookery Class for children aged 11+, where they learn to cook a family dinner for under £10 & eat it. Visit the Cookery Page on our website, & sign-up your child. Due to limited Kitchen space, group sizes are limited, & your child will be invited, to join a group & run, of sessions....

Previously, children have completed Food Hygiene Certificates, which helps them to demonstrate an understanding of Food Hygiene, as required for employment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
A range of physical activities run throughout the year; Basketball, Badminton, Skateboarding. Lessons with John Cattle's Skate Club. 2022-2023 funded by Energise Me.
