Ventnor Carnival is run by a small group of volunteers who have a passion for Carnival. The carnival costs in excess of £10,000 to put on and is funded entirely from donations from the public and local businesses.
During Ventnor Carnival Week various events take place:
- Children's Carnival: Wednesday lunchtime
- Main/Grand Carnival: Wednesday early evening
- Fireworks Display: Wednesday late evening
- Illuminated Carnival: Saturday late evening
Normally fronted by Marching Bands and the wonderful Ventnor Comic Jazz Band, expect plenty of noise and colour.
The floats and carnival participants gather in Dudley Road where the judging takes place, before making their way down Pier Street, up the High Street, back down Pier Street and then turning left into Church Street and on to Park Avenue to finish in Ventnor Park.
The Main / Grand Carnival culminates with a stunning fireworks display at the Spyglass end of Ventnor Beach.
