Californian fine art photographer Tracy Jean Shields is a self-taught photographer that has been producing her work for over 25 years. She attained her darkroom developing and printing skills in the photo department at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, CA.
Tracy's own photographic education was influenced during her time working at the J. Paul Getty Museum in the Department of Photographs and her exposure to such masters as Julia Margaret Cameron, Eugene Atget, William Eggleston, Walker Evans, August Sander, Paul Outerbridge and Manuel Alvarez Bravo. She was further greatly inspired as the Assistant Curator for the renowned private 19th Century photo collection The Wilson Centre for Photography.
Tracy has a unique, ethereal photographic style and 'eye' for capturing a timeless beauty in her work. She currently lives and works in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight writing a film based on the life of the Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.
