Built in 1866, the Volunteer is the original smallest pub on the Isle of Wight and is an interesting little gem, and a past winner of local CAMRA Pub of the Year. We have up to five beers available including a local brew.
Our lovely pub is popular with the Ventnor locals, but everyone is made welcome.
We're too small to serve food but we do sell English tapas (crisps & nuts!). No chips, no children under 14 years, no fruit machines, no video games - just a pure adult drinking house. We always have at least three (but sometimes five or six) traditionals, plus Goddards South Island 'key' and always a 5% abv traditional draught, Organic gluten free, English apple Herefordshire Cider (simply scrummy).
The Volunteer is one of the few places where you can still play Rings and enjoy a traditional games night. Ventnor is the only town in the UK that still has a thriving Rings League.
We are open every day from 11am until evening closing.
