Having opened The Terrace Yarmouth with their family in 2020, Tom & Ashley decided they didn’t have enough to do already and purchased the iconic St Augustine Villa at the edge of Ventnor Bay. Built as a home for the local rector in the 1840s it has been a guesthouse, lodge and hotel for over 150 years and is most famous for the visits and sketches of Aleksandr Herzen.
We began a restoration of the property in August 2021 completing just under a year later and opening as The Terrace Rooms & Wine, a second venture under The Terrace brand and also our home. Now a six-bed boutique guest house with an emphasis on destination wine, decor & barista coffee, equipped with a wine shop, tasting room & off-season restaurant, all situated beachside in Ventnor.
WINE

Our award-winning Wine Room is a shop and events space featuring over 900 bottles. From funky naturals to mature classics & rarities, our list sets out to prove that accessibly-priced bottles can yield as much enjoyment as more exclusive options.
All bottles are priced both to drink in or take out and we also offer quality beers, spirits & soft drinks as well as a daily-changing by the glass list. Residents can have a drink throughout their stay, our shop is open to the public from 10am - 5pm, and we take bookings to enjoy a glass or bottle from 12-4pm with amazing views of the English Channel. We sell all our wine by the case for free delivery on the Isle of Wight. You can find a selection of cases in our shop but we also offer custom-cases & can source specific wine for private clients. Just email us or visit the shop on our website.
WINE COURSES
“Wine Immersion” Stay & Learn Courses in our Library.
Planned & delivered by Top-20 UK Sommelier and Chef, Tom Fahey, our fun, informative wine courses focus on tasting, not textbooks or exams, and are hosted over two-day stays at our hotel for a true “wine immersion” experience. No jargon, no tests, just simple, direct guidance, lots of great wine, chat & knowledge that will change your wine perspective.

- Groups of 10+ can reserve the entire property for a private course.
- Prices start from £600 per-room for two nights bed & breakfast, one simple supper and all tasting wines.

OPENING HOURS
Wine Shop: open 12pm - 5pm. Just pop in and purchase.
Wine Bar: open by appointment only, or for residents, 12pm - 5pm, daily.
Wine Room Dinners: Friday at 7pm with a single service set menu for 14 guests at 7pm on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings.
Wine Tasting: Residents’ wine tasting included in every stay, daily at 5pm. Private wine tastings available year round by appointment.

STAY
Stays from £200 per night (2024) including our 5pm wine tasting each evening & a four course breakfast every morning.
We offer six double rooms (including a huge dog-friendly room) all year round. Each has a sea-view, superking Hypnos bed, White Company linen, & full coffee & tea service.
EAT
Cheese & charcuterie boards are available for residents from 12-7pm every day. From 12-5pm daily non-residents can enjoy cheese & charcuterie to accompany wine by booking a table.
Every Friday, Tom cooks a unique multi-course set dinner at 7pm in our Wine Room. All diners eat together around a single large table with menus created using only Isle of Wight produce. We offer a wine pairing to match dishes or guests can choose from our 900+ bottle cellar. There are four seats available for non-residents each week. Email us to enquire. You do not have to be a group of 14 - just come and share laughter, superb wine and great food with others.
We do not advise booking if you are a fussy eater, have strong likes & dislikes, or don’t like hearing about where your food comes. Menus are unpredictable and not finalised until the day. While we can accommodate allergies, we cannot adapt to vegan or dairy-free diets.
Private dining is available for groups taking 4 or more rooms starting at £70pp for a three course meal or £50pp buffet style.
We offer a Dinner Bed & Breakfast package in collaboration with True Food Kitchen, a local restaurant we enjoy visiting.
