This south facing beach is accessed by a steep, winding path with dramatic cliff views. It is not easy to reach, but it's very picturesque. Once at the shore, it is shingle with a number of dispersed rocks. As is with much of the Island's southern coastline, Rocken End Beach has a wonderful feeling of isolation.
Also known as Blackgang Beach, Rocken End Beach is known for being a great spot for fossil hunting due to the abundance of fossils found in the surrounding cliffs.
NOTE: This is an unofficial but long-established naturist beach, used by both locals and visitors.
Access is a bit of a hike and a scramble, and will take you about 20 minutes to get down to. The route is muddy, even in the summer, so you are likely to come home muddy. It is also easy to take the wrong path.

Getting to Old Blackgang Road Car park can be an adventure in itself as the access road is very narrow, and just wide enough for a car. Once parked, head out via the left hand gate. Once onto the footpath keep on the right rather than veering left, which is likely to take you to Watershoot Bay.
Your next adventure will be to find the correct route down as there are several footpath junctions. Some paths are narrow and precarious with significant drops. There isn't an official set of steps. You may even find some rope that a previous visitor has left.
Be prepared to get it wrong. If there is someone else around, it's worth asking if they know the correct route.
